3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the KIALS platform;
- To generate your personalized study program;
- To send you important account notifications and (with your consent) product updates;
- To detect and prevent fraud and abuse;
- To comply with our legal obligations.
4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are in the EU or EEA, our legal bases for processing your personal data are:
- Contract: Processing your account data and uploaded content to provide the service you requested;
- Legitimate Interests: Analytics to improve the platform, fraud prevention;

5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:
- Service providers who help operate the platform (hosting, payment processing, email delivery) under data processing agreements;

- Successor entities in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with advance notice to you.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. KIALS does not sell your personal information, and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA. Because we do not sell or share your data, there is no opt-out to process. If you have questions or wish to exercise any California privacy right — including the rights to know, access, delete, correct, and limit the use of sensitive personal information — email support@kials.com with the subject line “California Privacy Request.” You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate data;
- Delete your data (subject to legal retention requirements);
- Port your data to another service;

- Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent).
To exercise any of these rights, email support@kials.com. We will respond within 30 days.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
Uploaded documents and generated questions are retained to power your study program. You can delete individual programs from your dashboard at any time.
Uploaded documents: when you delete a study program, the uploaded source document and the questions generated from it are removed from active systems within 30 days, subject to routine backup rotation.
8. Security
We use industry-standard encryption (TLS) for data in transit and encrypt sensitive data at rest. Access to personal data is restricted to staff who need it to provide the service. We maintain incident response procedures and will notify you of data breaches as required by law.

We use the following categories of cookies:
- Essential: Required for login, session management, and core platform functions. Cannot be disabled.

You can manage cookie preferences through our consent banner or your browser settings.
10. International Transfers
KIALS is based in the United States. If you access the platform from the EU, EEA, or UK, your data is transferred to and processed in the United States. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for such transfers where required.
11. Children's & Minors' Privacy
The Platform is intended only for adults and is not directed to children. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18 — and in particular, we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13, the age governed by the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If we learn that a person under 18 has created an account, we will delete the account and associated data promptly. To report an account you believe belongs to a minor, email support@kials.com.
